| Softball team 1-1 in Sunset Conference

The Bandon Tiger softball team outlasted Myrtle Point 12-9 at home on March 21 to even its Sunset Conference record at 1-1.
The Tigers were scheduled to play a doubleheader at Cottage Grove on March 22, but results were unavailable. Bandon was to host Phoenix in another non-league twinbill yesterday.
The Tigers will host league foe Reedsport at 4:30 p.m. on April 1, then are scheduled to travel to Cascade Christian for a 3 p.m. start on April 4.
Defeat Bobcats
The Tigers slugged 11 hits en route to a 12-9 home win over Myrtle Point on March 21.
Bandon built an 8-0 lead through four innings, but committed five errors in the fifth, when the Bobcats evened the score. The Tigers regained the lead with a four-run sixth inning.
Becky Butler pitched a complete game to pick up the win, allowing five hits. Myrtle Point committed five errors.
Senior Maya Magallanes had three hits and scored a run for Bandon, while Megan Haueter hit safely twice and scored three times. Butler and Brittney Smith had two hits each and both scored twice. Ashley O’Grady doubled and scored twice.
Loss at Gold Beach
Panther Molly Hockema threw a one-hit shutout to defeat the visiting Tigers 6-0 at Gold Beach on March 19.
The league opener for both teams had been postponed from March 18 due to rain.
Smith slugged a double to account for Bandon’s lone hit.
Butler allowed six runs on 12 hits in the loss, and the Tigers committed four errors.
