» Tracksters place well at home

Bandon’s girls tied for first-place in the Small Schools Invitational at Tiger Field on March 18, while the Tiger boys placed second.

Bandon’s teams are scheduled to compete in the Douglas Invitational at Winston today. No starting time was available. The Tigers are to compete in the Reedsport Invitational beginning at 4 p.m. on April 1, then will travel to the Coquille Invitational on April 4.

Beth Castro recorded the Tiger girls’ only first-place finish in the Small Schools meet, winning the pole vault with a height of 9 feet. She also placed second in the 100 high hurdles.

Others finishing in second-place for Bandon were Kacy Crook, 400 meters and pole vault; Briana Valentine, discus; and Julie Baker, triple jump.

Girls team scores: Bandon 119, Coquille 119, Brookings-Harbor105.5, Myrtle Point 75, Reedsport 51, Pacific 49, Powers 32 and Gold Beach 25.

Taylor also placed second in the 200. Jarrid Doffing placed second in the 110 high hurdles and the triple jump. Bandon’s 4x400 relay team (Taylor, Greg Puhl, Cesar Escalante and Michael Whitney) also placed second.
