The police report is compiled daily from the public record log of the Bandon Police Department. The information represents initial reports and not completed investigations, arrests or convictions.

June 30

7:06 a.m., as a result of a traffic stop, police arrested Walter D. Jolly, 34, of Coos Bay, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. Jolly was transported to Coos County jail.

9:40 a.m., citizen reports a small pipe bomb in a mailbox in the 2800 block of Lincoln.

10 a.m., report of a disturbance at Shooting Star Motel, 1640 Oregon Ave. S.W. A civil compromised was reached.

1:40 p.m., Inner Garden, 230 Second St. S.E. reports two teenage boys sitting in back of a vehicle throwing food toward people. 2:20 p.m., report of a bicycle stolen in the 1000 block of Ohio Avenue. Bike is a BMX style, green with back pegs.

7:55 p.m., police arrested Janet E. Freauff, 50, of Coos Bay on a charge of driving while under the influence of intoxicants. Freauff was transported to Coos County jail and her car was towed by North Bend Towing.

7:39 p.m., a cooler was located with lab samples inside of it in the 900 block of Oregon Avenue. Samples were of concrete.

July 1

7:47 a.m., report of vehicle missing from Ray’s Food Place parking lot since yesterday. It was located at the Best Western Inn at Face Rock.

2:21 p.m., report of kids throwing something at cars on 10th Street and Grand Avenue. The kids were walking north on Grand and took off on the foot path. 5:56 p.m., report of a male passed out on the side of the road on Caroline Avenue. Subject is at the bottom of the hill next to a green house.

7:14 p.m., dog was found in the 1200 block of Baltimore. Returned to owner.

7:29 p.m., canoeist may be having problems getting over the jetty. Located subject; not in distress.

9:09 p.m., female reports black smoke behind Hennick’s Home Center, 88296 Highway 42. The burn was located in the 400 block of Ohio Street Southeast. Coos Forest Protective Association cited the property owner.

July 2

9:44 a.m., incomplete 911 call received from the 1000 block of Sixth Street. On first call back the phone was busy and there was no answer on the second call back. Elderly female had misdialed.

10:35 a.m., Bandon Veterinary, 900 Second St. S.E. advised it received a check written on insufficient funds. A letter will be served to the check writer.

3:20 p.m., report of an unknown subject attempting to steal fuel from a vehicle in the 88000 block of Highway 42.

5:25 p.m., a hit-and-run accident was reported in the 100 block of Chicago Avenue involving a dirty white van. Minor damage was done.

July 3

12:39 a.m., anonymous male reported a loud party, yelling and wood chopping in the area of 11th Street and Franklin. Checked the area, unable to locate.

3:54 a.m., an incomplete 911 call by a male stated he and his sister were being assaulted in the 2000 block of Spinnaker Drive. Male gave the address but dispatcher was unable to understand what he said.

A female came on the line and advised all was fine and hung up. Contacted subject, he was intoxicated and does not want to file a report. Other subject left in a light BMW convertible. Unable to locate.

9:15 a.m., report of hit-and-run damage to a vehicle, possibly occurred at Ray’s Food Place last week. The damage is estimated at $1,400.

11:36 a.m., suspicious vehicle reported in the 49000 block of Highway 101. Subject is selling vacuum cleaners.

11:48 a.m., received a report of a subject dumping household trash in a city garbage can in Bandon City Park. The vehicle is registered to a subject who lives out of the area.

3:59 p.m., male caller advised an erratic driver in a black Dodge Stratus with fancy wheels. Subject may be intoxicated. Attempted to locate.

4:09 p.m., priest at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 355 Oregon Ave., reports a transient sleeping behind the parish hall in the bushes. Unable to locate.

4:15 p.m., suspicious vehicles were parked in front of a no parking sign on a gravel road just north of Seabird Lane. Vehicles are Honda-type vehicles with male subjects who are refusing to move. Checked the area; unable to locate vehicles.

7:07 p.m., neighbor set off fireworks and scared subject’s dog in the 700 block of Edison Avenue.

7:27 p.m., fight reported in the 200 block of First Street between two males. No charges were filed.

10:31 p.m., dog show people have a fire between their camp trailers in the 400 block of Ninth Street. They do not have permission to do so. Checked the area; unable to locate.

July 4

2:10 p.m., subject attempted to open a gas tank in the 700 block of 12th Street. The door was scratched up.

6:36 p.m., report of a driver slumped over the wheel in a Honda Sport at Parkersburg. Assistant was rendered.

8:10 p.m., juveniles were playing with a radio-controlled car in the street in the 100 block of Fourth Street. Advised juveniles to watch for big cars.

11:07 p.m., report of an intoxicated driver leaving Old Town. Subject was driving a silver Ford F150, four-door with four occupants. Relayed information to Coquille Police.

11:34 p.m., report of a pit bull running loose chasing fireworks in the 900 block of Grand Avenue. Unable to locate the dog.

July 5

1:45 a.m., arrested Adam C. Gernandt, 18, of Bandon on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. Gernandt was transferred to Coos County jail and his vehicle was towed by North Bend towing.

July 6

3:06 p.m., report of a dog locked in a car in the 400 block of S.E. Second Street. Unable to locate.

3:41 p.m., report of a female laying in the grass all day long on Highway 101 north of the fitness center. Hitchhiker stopped to take a nap.

6:14 p.m., report of two husky dogs running loose in the 1000 block of S.E. Fourth Street.

8:12 p.m., a cat was struck by a vehicle in the 800 block of S.W. 11th Street. Cat is still alive.

9:06 p.m., report of animal abuse in the 100 block of S.E. Michigan Avenue.
