The police report is compiled daily from the public record log of the Bandon Police Department. The information represents initial reports and not completed investigations, arrests or convictions.

July 7

10:54 a.m., report of trespass at Harvard Street Apartments; 82-year-old man from Bandon cited for criminal trespass.

12:34 p.m., Langlois resident lost small digital Canon camera, silver with black case, in Bandon area.

3:41 p.m., two vehicle, non-injury accident reported at the Bandon Liquor Store, 1125 Alabama. Information exchanged.

4:29 p.m., employee from VA clinic advises of false alarm. Told to call the alarm company.


8:05 p.m., report of individual attempting to collect $200 from man in 100 block of Fifth Street. Woman came out of house and pulled reporting person’s hair. All subjects contacted. No one wanted to pursue charges.

8:19 p.m., report of ex-wife dropping child off at residence. Subject wants to know if he can keep child, which is not his biological child. Advised subject to contact Department of Human Services. No crime.

8:48 p.m., report of suspicious person entering residence when subject not at home in the 1000 block of Austin Avenue. Report taken.

9:56 p.m., report of several vehicles with loud music. Checked area. Unable to locate.

10:46 p.m., report of purse left on bench in Old Town. Information taken.

July 8


9:09 a.m., report of criminal mischief in 400 block of Lexington Avenue Southeast. Man attempting to kick in a door. Left in gray sports car. Report taken for criminal mischief and criminal trespass.

9:30 a.m., theft of realty sign with flag. Patrol notified.

9:53 a.m., report of small gray car backed into brush. Officer en route.

12:58 p.m., report of road hazard. Large garbage bags in roadway. Handled.

1:57 p.m., arrested Raul Baron, 24, of Bandon, at El Jalapeno’s restaurant on two Coos County Sheriff’s Office warrants charging driving under the influence of intoxicants and failure to appear. Baron was taken to the Coos County jail and lodged on $15,000 bail.

5:53 p.m., employee at Shindler’s Pharmacy, 215 10th St. S.E., reports suspected tampering with drug records.


9:29 p.m., woman driver talking on cell phone hit a dog. Dog is still alive. Transferred to Oregon State Police. Bandon Police responded. Golden retriever transferred to Goodnight Lucas’ business on state Highway 42S for the night or until owner located.

10:05 p.m., report of runaway juvenile. Juvenile transferred to detention.

July 9

9:38 a.m., report of $30 stolen. Report taken.

10:14 p.m., report of open door at Verizon complex. Someone already en route to secure door.

10:14 p.m., report of attempted burglary in the 800 block of First Street Southeast. Suspicious circumstances. Information logged.


July 10

1:20 a.m., wood chip truck driver flagged down officer to advise subject is standing in the road. Juvenile subject refused to go home, states mother is in Bay Area Hospital and she is going to hitchhike to Coos Bay.

2:11 a.m., officer out with intoxicated subject. Subject taken home.

5:26 a.m., report of tree down, half of road blocked. Officer will check, flag it and notify public works.

6:42 a.m., report of panic alarm going off at VA outpatient clinic. Alarm malfunction.

11:45 p.m., report of reckless driver heading north. Driver of green Mazda detained. Case transferred to Oregon State Police.

3:28 p.m., report of vehicles all over roadway southbound from Bandon Dunes Golf Resort entrance, a silver Dodge 4X4 and a white low-rider, both with ATVs in beds. Transferred to Oregon State Police. Both vehicles located. Stopped Dodge at U.S. Highway 101 and Highway 42S, warned.

3:33 p.m., assisting Department of Human Services at 1100 block of June Avenue.

6:23 p.m., male requesting assistance with food. Officer checked area, subject not there.

6:33 p.m., report of disturbance at Price ’n’ Pride. Parties separated, left in different vehicles.

July 11

12:01 p.m., report of ongoing problems with dogs barking in 500 block of Franklin Avenue. Will refer to animal control.

1:19 p.m., report of motorcycle that police have been looking for southbound on Franklin. Detained for towing behind residence near 11th and Harrison.

8:53 p.m., report of man using a cell phone and driving a white Cadillac swerving all over road. Vehicle located on traffic stop. Negative for driving under the influence.

11:34 p.m., 27-year-old Medford man cited for driving with suspended license violation and driving uninsured.

July 12

1:11 a.m., Ewan Eckles, 46, of Winston, arrested on a charge of driving under the influence. Subject transferred to Coos County jail. Vehicle towed by Mast Bros.

2:40 a.m., Bay Watch Security advises of audible burglar alarm on Saturn Lane. Residence checked. Owner to contact alarm company if further problems.

11:49 a.m., report from Gibson Graphics of a woman wearing black hoodie, white pants and carrying bags swearing and flipping off passersby in front of store. Subject appears to be mentally unstable. Trying to catch a ride.

12:32 p.m., subject found camera at cemetery, wants to turn it in. Handled.

9:31 p.m., report of barking dog at residence behind reporting party’s house, in the 500 block of Franklin Avenue. Dog located. Subject will keep him inside.

10:33 p.m., subject reports 12-year-old son was hit in face at Bandon Community Youth Center. Refused medical care. Subject would not answer the door. Investigation continuing.

July 13

8:01 a.m., report of vehicle parked overnight at City Park playground parking lot. The blue Sprint is legally parked.

11:35 a.m., parking complaint. Utility type trailers with no plates or ID. Will attempt to locate owners.

9:37 p.m., officer conducting traffic stop arrested Christopher Hernandez, 27, of Bandon on a charge of probation violation. Authorized by probation officer. Male driver, 30, also of Bandon, cited for misdemeanor driving while suspended in lieu of arrest. Vehicle towed.

11:53 p.m., subject observed school crossing sign hit at corner of Ninth and Oregon. Cleaned items from roadway. Will contact public works tomorrow.

July 14

12:41 a.m., report of sealed box sitting in front of residence in 800 block of Ocean Drive. Box empty.

12:29 a.m., report of man walking through yard in the 800 block of First Street Southeast. Checked area. Unable to locate.
