Over Memorial Day weekend, the Bandon Old Town Merchants hosted their first annual Shop Hop. The event was co-chaired by Michelle Hagglund of Forget Me Knots, and Cyndi Olive from Nobnab.
Some 59 entrants spent two days visiting the 28 participating merchants to try to answer the “riddle” related to each shop.
The grand prize winner was Mariann Croucher of Bandon. The Crouchers received a two-night stay and four rounds of golf donated by Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.
“When she received the notification call from Michelle she was thrilled,” Olive said. “It was her wedding anniversary and her husband loves golf. She said she could not have received a better present for their anniversary.”
All who participated this year received a gift certificate for either $15 or $25 from one of the 28 participating stores, Olive said.
“Probably the most common remark we heard that weekend was how many people did not realize what new stores were in Old Town, and what a pleasure it was to get re-acquainted with the shops and restaurants there,” Hagglund said.
Next year, the group plans to hold the event a little earlier in the year.
“A huge thank you to Bandon Dunes and all the merchants who helped to make this a great success,” Hagglund said.
