Aug. 25

7:56 a.m., subject found grandmother and believes she is deceased. Amling/Schroeder picked up body. Medical examiner notified.

10:07 a.m., assisted with vehicle lockout; dog inside vehicle at Misty Meadows, U.S. Highway 101. Vehicle unlocked by officer.

10:58 a.m., assisted with returning bike to owner in the area of Ruby Loop.

12:26 p.m., received report from Bandon School District Transportation Department of suspicious male transient asking for “unclaimed” backpacks. Headed toward U.S. Highway 101. Information relayed to officer. 12:29 p.m., report that high school employees chased out two unknown men. Arrested Thomas W. Balow, 44, of Hillsboro, on Washington County warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of second-degree theft. Taken to Coos County jail. Another man was removed from school property.

2:04 p.m., woman reported her house in the 1200 block of Seventh Street Southwest appeared to have been vandalized. Lamps were broken, curtains down, blood all over. Determined that three dogs inside residence had caused situation; one had cut its foot.

4:13 p.m., report of intoxicated man sleeping near Price ’n’ Pride. Transient man taken to retrieve his belongings, which he had left near the intersection of Eighth Street and Franklin Avenue. He was then told to move along.

7:37 p.m., employee at Price ’n’ Pride translating complaint for Spanish-speaking customer who reported locking keys in a gray Toyota Corolla. Unable to assist.

7:53 p.m., report from Bandon Beach Motel of a man yelling in the parking lot. Civil matter.

Aug. 26 3:45 a.m., received report of alarm at Bandon Police patrol door. Employee set off alarm.

9:55 a.m., received report of blue mesh purse lost in Old Town. Logged for lost and found.

11:45 a.m., man reported losing dog, named Chopper, in Old Town.

12:58 p.m., contact with transient behind LaKris Motel. Told him to move on.

1:27 p.m., received report of lost black and white Shitzu, named Dodi, with cleft lip and skin problems. Given information for Bandon vet and animal shelter.

4:18 p.m., alarm reported at business/residence in the 2900 block of Beach Loop Drive. No apparent entry to residence.

4:43 p.m., received report that a person at Shooting Star Motel refuses to leave motel. Subject is leaving.

8:05 p.m., woman requested officer at her residence in the 500 block of Douglas Avenue while ex-husband picked up their son for continuation of visitation.

8:41 p.m., report of citizens not heeding traffic control directions in construction zone on First Street Southwest. Woman cited for failure to obey a flagger.

9:27 p.m., assisted construction crew at First Street and Delaware Avenue with parking problem.

Aug. 27

4:43 a.m., report of loud talking at Harvard Street Apartments. Advised woman to contact landlord.

9:57 a.m., received report of a man lying in middle of road near intersection of Riverside Drive and Ferry Road. Picked up by Bay Cities Ambulance. Man had been removed from property near Amos Pond.

11:07 a.m., report of male smoking pipe in stairwell near Fifth Street and Elmira Avenue. Appears intoxicated. He moved along prior to officer’s arrival.

11:47 a.m., report of man abandoning his vehicle at Shell Station on Highway 101. Owner contacted and told to move vehicle.

11:56 a.m., report of elderly man on bicycle who keeps falling over. Last seen on Klamath Street Southeast, north of June Avenue. Man arrived home and parked bike at residence in the 400 block of Lexington Avenue.

12:18 p.m., woman reported that a man claiming to be from the Coos Bay Utility Company came to her door in the 800 block of 12th Street Southwest giving away very small picture frames for signing up customers. She observed another man across the street in a white, possible Chevy truck with canopy. Man at door was in his 30s or 40s, and well groomed. Man in truck was shorter, stocky, with braided ponytail, beige clothes. Left area, unknown direction. Officer attempted to locate.

2:03 p.m., report from Ray’s Food Place that a male is purchasing alcohol from another male, who is a 15-year-old youth and hiding it in bushes near store. Officer checked area; unable to locate.

2:18 p.m., arrested Brian R. Blackwell, 34, of Bandon, a registered sex offender, on charges of probation violation for possession of a controlled substance, schedule 2, methamphetamine. Taken to Coos County jail by probation and parole officer.

5:49 p.m., report of possible attempted burglary at residence in the 400 block of Oregon Avenue.

8:41 p.m., received request from Oregon State Police to attempt to locate vehicle involved in poaching that just occurred on Bear Creek Road. Checked area. Unable to locate.

9:30 p.m., received complaint about vehicle with no rear lights on Seven Devils Road. Driver warned.

9:46 p.m., female said she believed someone was in her residence in the 900 block of Seventh Street Southwest. Checked residence.

11:26 p.m., male reported that the front door, garage door and vehicle door are open at neighbor’s residence in the 1200 block of Indiana Avenue Northeast. House secured.

Aug. 28

8:30 a.m., report of abandoned vehicle parked wrong way on Eighth Court, not moved in weeks. Contacted owner who will move vehicle.

12:24 p.m., employee at Crazy Craig’s Fine Cars complained that civil deputy is at location trying to serve a warrant to an employee. Deputy moved across street to wait for employee.

1:54 p.m., received report that skate ramp had been taken from skate park. Suspect’s mother said suspect will return ramp tonight. Ramp returned.

6:44 p.m., received complaint of loud noise coming from residence near 17th Street Southeast. Male turned down stereo.

7:25 p.m., report of suspicious vehicle along Golf Links Road. Possibly abandoned, but people appear to be living in it. Information given to on-duty officer.

7:27 p.m., employee at West Wind Court, 465 Fourth St. S.W., reported that an 85-year-old resident had run away. Resident had been taken to Southern Coos Hospital by a citizen from a local church.

11:24 p.m., received report of alarm at Grand Avenue Apartments; juveniles seen running from area.

Aug. 29

8:28 a.m., received report of car tires slashed previous night in the 1200 block of Baltimore Avenue.

10:25 a.m., off-duty officer at Ray’s Food Place received report of unattended child; possible child neglect.

5:58 p.m., notified by OSP of possible intoxicated driver in white sedan on U.S. Highway 101. Unable to locate.

Aug. 30

6:38 a.m., received report of a dog barking on Bandon Avenue. Unable to get anyone to answer door. Will check back later.

10:50 a.m., report of disabled vehicle towing a boat stopped on south side of Highway 101 south of bridge. Unable to locate.

11:01 a.m., Visitor Center relayed third-hand report of big dog stranded on South Jetty. Dog came ashore and has been reunited with owner.

4:25 p.m., report from Shooting Star Motel, 1640 Oregon Ave., of woman making threatening phone call.

6:57 p.m., report of hit-and-run accident on 11th Street Northeast and property damaged. Arrested Kaela M. Grytness, 20, of Bandon, on a charge of driving under the influence of intoxicants. Taken to Coos County jail.

8:22 p.m., arrested Edward H. Bates, 19, of Battleground, Wash., on 11th Street Northeast on an outstanding warrant on charges of failure to appear, second-degree burglary and theft. Taken to Coos County jail.

Aug. 31

1:39 p.m., report of alarm at Cardas Audio, 480 11th St. S.E. Owner on scene; will reset alarm.

9:40 a.m., assisted Bandon Police in investigating stolen wire.

6:09 p.m., report of runaway juvenile, who left area on bicycle at about 5 p.m. Located at mother’s house. Father enroute to pick him up.

Aug. 28

3:32 p.m., received report of windsurfer down in water off Whiskey Run Beach for 15 minutes. Sheriff’s office launched medical stage, initiated assistance from U.S. Coast Guard and Bay Cities Ambulance. Assistance canceled, as surfer came ashore 300 yards south and is fine.

Aug. 29

5:43 p.m., report of possible intoxicated driver on Bill’s Creek Lane. Unable to locate.

7:55 p.m., received abandoned 911 call. Upon recall, found that child had been playing with phone.

Aug. 30

10:01 a.m., report of suspicious subjects in the area of Beach Loop Road with a Safeway gift card trying to sell something to a man. They are possibly the same subjects who were selling air cleaners last week in Fairview area. Information logged. Man will recall if they return.

9:07 p.m., man reported hearing gun shots on the east side of Highway 101, south of Bandon High School. Information logged.

10:41 p.m., received report of possible gun shots or fireworks being fired on Beach Loop Drive. Information logged.
