» Soccer team splits NB, Sutherlin games

The Pacific High School soccer team split a pair of Far West League matches last week, falling to 2-2 going into this week’s action.

The combined Pacific/Bandon squad is scheduled to host Douglas at 4:30 p.m. today (Sept. 25) and will travel to play at South Umpqua at the same time on Oct. 1.

Pacific dropped a 1-0 match to visiting North Bend on Sept. 18. Sean Jany scored the Bulldogs’ goal in the 53rd minute on Kyle Demming’s assist.

Coach Tom Swenson of Pacific praised Jany’s individual effort and said his team played well in the defensive struggle. North Bend improved to 3-0 with the win.

Pacific took a 2-0 victory over visiting Sutherlin on Sept. 16.

David Sanin scored in the 48th minute on an assist from Shane O’Brien. Jonathon Everest added the second goal in the 77th minute off Pete Swenson’s assist. Tom Swenson said his team showed improvement in its possession game and in creating scoring opportunities during the win.
