The Bandon Pool Committee has a new board president. The committee held its monthly meeting Feb. 12 at the Bandon Dunes Administration Building conference room.
The meeting was presided over by the newly appointed president, Diane Smith, and vice president Nicole Erenfeld, according to a press release. The other officers present were secretary Rose Hewitson and treasurer Breanna Quattrocchi. Former president Mike Sterling will remain involved with the swimming pool effort as an adviser to the board.
Bill Russell gave a presentation on the details and benefits of the possible formation of a recreation district. The district’s boundaries would be the same as the Bandon School District and would help pay for the construction and operation of the pool, if it were approved by the voters, the release said. The board appointed Mike Alexander, its technical adviser, to be the district formation committee chairman and board liaison.
Alexander told the board that design work has begun on the pool and he will be providing monthly updates to the board on its progress.
Smith reported that a golf tournament fundraiser is planned April 26 at Bandon Crossings golf course.
