What: Walk to raise money and support for Katie Phillips Burke.
When: Registration at 8:30 a.m., walk from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 27, at the BHS track.
Why: The event is being sponsored by friends and family of Burke to raise awareness of breast cancer, especially in young women, and to raise funds to offset Burke’s medical expenses.
How: Participants may make laps around the track or walk to the beach and enjoy the minus tide. A silent auction including artwork, gift baskets and gift certificates will be held from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Refreshments will be provided and live music will be performed by Jim and Holly Sylvester.
Cost: Registration fee is $30 and includes a tye-dyed T-shirt made by students in Jim Proehl’s Humanities class. Forms are available at Umpqua Bank or the Bandon School District office.
