A high wind warning is in effect along and near the coast from 4 p.m. Thursday to 10 a.m. Friday.
The wind warning was issued from the National Weather Service in Medford. South and southwest winds will increase to 30 to 40 mph with gusts 50 to 60 mph along or near the coast Thursday afternoon. Winds will increase Thursday night to 40 to 60 mph with gusts 60 to 80 mph and locally stronger at the headlands, just ahead of a strong cold front.
Friday morning, winds will shift to the southwest and west at 30 to 40 mph, with gust 45 to 60 mph and will be accompanied by heavy rainfall as the front moves through. Winds are then expected to fall below warning thresholds by late Friday morning.
A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gust of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage. Travel will be impacted, especially for high-profile vehicles, according to the National Weather Service.
