Girls working for shot at playoffs
The Tiger girls varsity basketball team fell into a three-way tie for fifth-place in the Sunset Conference with losses at Myrtle Point and Gold Beach last week.
Wrestlers go 9-7 at Monroe Invitational
The Bandon/Pacific high school wrestling team placed 12th among 19 teams competing in the Monroe Invitational on Jan. 30.
Boys move into tie for fourth
Bandon’s boys varsity roundball team picked up a pair of wins in Sunset Conference play last week, improving to 5-4 in league.
JV boys playing well
The Tiger boys JV1 basketball team suffered a tough one-point loss at Coquille on Jan. 22, then came back to defeat Glide at home the next night.
Fishing report
Local lakes: A couple of local anglers stopped by to tell us about a fishing trip they recently took to Eel Lake, located just east of U.S. Highway 101 about 10 miles south of Reedsport. They told us they caught a nice stringer of rainbow trout from the fishing dock in Tugman State Park. This state park is the public access point to Eel Lake. It has a camping area, restrooms, boat ramp, launching dock and fishing pier. Eel Lake receives most of its fishing pressure on its rainbow and cutthroat trout populations. However, the lake has an excellent population of largemouth bass, along with fair numbers of black crappies.
