Raymond “Ray” E. Yost

March 22, 1925 – Jan. 26, 2010

A memorial service will be held for Raymond “Ray” E. Yost, 84, of Bandon, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 6, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 87641 Doberman in Bandon. Douglas Burton will officiate.

Ray was born March 22, 1925, in Sisseton, S.D. He died Jan. 26, 2010.

Ray moved to the Oregon coast in 1936 with his parents and siblings, settling in the Bandon area just before Bandon burned. In 1943, he dedicated his life to Jehovah God and was baptized in symbol of that dedication and became one of Jehovah’s witnesses. While he supported his family working as a timber cutter in the area until his retirement in 1990, his life was his service to his God Jehovah.

Ray married Edith (Hitz) Crewes in December 1955 and they settled in Bandon, where they raised their three children until Edith’s death in May 1993. In 1995, he married Carol Swigart of Dallas, Ore. They settled in Dallas until her death, he then returned to the Bandon area in 1997, and lived with his daughter, Sarah and pursued a full-time ministry as one of Jehovah’s witnesses until his death from congestive heart failure in Portland’s Hopewell House Hospice.

Ray is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Abigail and Dan Ashworth of Bandon; daughter, Sarah Yost of Bandon; son, Aaron Yost of Lebanon and his children, Howard and Ellen; sisters, Joyce Moore of Bandon and Mary Little of North Bend; brothers, John of Brookings and Ted of Washington; and stepbrother, Robert Elliott of Bandon.

He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous brothers and sisters.

Arrangements are under the direction of Myrtle Grove funeral Service-Bay Area, 541-269-2851.
