» JV boys playing well

The Tiger boys JV1 basketball team suffered a tough one-point loss at Coquille on Jan. 22, then came back to defeat Glide at home the next night.

“The Coquille game was a tough one,” coach Vince Quattrocchi said. “The team never gave up, though, and turned it around the next day and played a great game against Glide.”

Leading scorers for Bandon in the loss at Coquille were Tyler Moehring and Davin Winchell. Winchell and Jacob Berry led the team against Glide, as the Tigers finished the first half of conference play with a 5-2 record.

Bandon “came out ready to play” at Gold Beach on Jan. 26 and improved to 6-2 in league. Leading scorers were Spencer Murray, Berry and Michael Arriola.

After a slow first half at Myrtle Point on Jan. 29, the Tigers battled back before falling short at the end.

“The Myrtle Point game was a little disappointing,” Quattrocchi said. “The kids got down early, but played tough basketball in the second half before falling short.” Leading scorers against the Bobcats were Kyle Freitag and Winchell.
