Established in 1912 as the Bandon Recorder, the newspaper eventually became known as the Western World, serving the fishing and farming communities of Bandon Ore. area. Although the paper has changed its flag several times over the years, it has always maintained a commitment to Bandon community news. In 2003, the Western World was purchased Southwestern Oregon Newspapers, a subsidiary of Lee Enterprises.
