Drive to protect trees causes dispute
This year’s storms exacted a tremendous toll on Bandon’s trees. Among the devastation, several enormous Monterey cypress, which were planted as wind barriers just after the great fire of 1936, crashed to the ground, irretrievably broken.

Task force to put together new tree manual
In June, the Committee for Citizen Involvement voted to create a task force to develop a standards and specifications manual that would be referenced in and complement Bandon’s existing tree ordinance.

A vision for the future: Bandon, Tree City USA
According to Esther Williams, the Citizen Involvement Committee has been working toward possibly applying for Tree City USA status. The creation of a tree manual is a step in that direction.
